Youth Corps

Park Avenue Armory Youth Corps is a group of New York City public high school students and graduates from Bronx Envision Academy, International High School at Prospect Heights, Talent Unlimited, Vanguard High School, and Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design. Starting in High School, Youth Corps are immersed in the art and creative processes of the Armory's artists through a paid, project-oriented internship that invites young people to explore and create unconventional art, while providing job and career training, leadership development, and essential communication and life skills. Additionally, the Youth Corps provide a test audience to the Armory Teaching Artist Corps during the lesson design process and offer feedback from a student perspective, serve as Front of House staff for Armory events, assist in administrative projects in all departments, and complete and present a culminating creative project.

Post High School Youth Corps members have opportunities for continued paid personal and professional development through a variety of opportunities ranging from Advanced Internships in Armory departments, COHORT College Support Group, Armory Art Together art commissioning program, the Teaching Apprentice Program, and a Student Advisory Board.

Participating schools receive an additional set of classroom resources aligned with city, state, and federal learning standards that provide additional contextual information for each production, opportunities for curricular integration, and resources for independent student exploration.
