“The Armory’s Board of Officers Room, recently restored
to a state of spare yet sumptuous elegance, is becoming
a locus for important chamber-music concerts.”
—The New Yorker
Since its reopening in 2013, the Belle Époque splendor of the Board of Officers Room has shown through in magical recitals that invoke the salon culture of the Gilded Age. This season we expand on the meaning of recital to encompass not only chamber works of classical and contemporary music, but also the art of reciting spoken word, all utilizing the pristine acoustics and sublime scale provided by the elegantly austere space. Welcoming both rising stars and veterans of stage and screen, this splendid series offers audiences the chance to enjoy the intimacy of recitals and music-making in the most personal of settings.
