Special Events Associate

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

SPECIAL EVENTS ASSOCIATE:
The Armory is seeking a development professional to join a small but entrepreneurial group. Ideal candidates will be self-starters who work well within a fast-paced environment. Working in conjunction with the Associate Director of Special Events and the Special Events and larger Development teams, this staff member will help to plan and execute high-end events for major donors, sponsors and members of the Armory, most importantly the annual Gala that hosts 700 of New York’s affluent. This position is full-time.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Income and budget tracking
• Gift processing and acknowledgments
• Database work
• List and calendar management
• Coordination of event mailings, response tracking, follow-up for events
• Event logistics with vendors and Armory staff.
• The role may also have additional responsibilities, tasks, and projects, as assigned by the Associate Director of Special Events, Sr. Director of Development, and other department heads.

REQUIREMENTS & SKILLS:
Ideal candidates will have 1 to 2 years of administrative or development experience with an interest in special events. They must also be highly organized, motivated, high-energy, and detail-oriented. Candidates must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be able to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel required. Experience with database management, particularly Tessitura, is preferred. Some evening and weekend work is required.

COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time salaried position with benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. Please provide salary requirements with your application.
