Security Manager

Part American palace, part industrial shed, Park Avenue Armory is dedicated to supporting unconventional works in the visual and performing arts that need non-traditional spaces for their full realization, enabling artists to create and audiences to experience epic and adventurous presentations that cannot be mounted elsewhere in New York City.

SECURITY MANAGER:
The Security Manager, reporting to the Director of Security, assists in administering all Safety and Security operations and functions at Park Avenue Armory to insure the safety and security of artists, staff, patrons, visitors, and contractors. The Security Manager oversees security systems use and management, lost and found, budgeting and forecasting, department management, and adherence to federal, state and local laws.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage the supervision of internal and external security posts and the perimeter of the armory and the property to observe and identify potential safety risks, security risks and undesirable conditions.
• Direct and lead investigations of accidents, thefts, property loss, and unlawful activities
• Direct response to emergency situations including, but not limited to, safety hazards, fires, medical emergencies and threats to life and/or property
• Serve as a liaison with federal, state and local law enforcement
• Serve as a liaison with fire department
• Oversee the administration and accuracy of all required reports and documentation
• Respond to patron and community inquiries and requests and resolve issues in a timely, professional and efficient manner
• Recruit, interview and train security team members
• Ensure compliance and proper operation of the fire command center
• Prepare schedules for security staff as needed to accommodate various events
• Experience in the operation of the Genetec Security Surveillance System
• Temporary Public Assembly (TPA) compliance control
• Loading in and out compliance and logistics control
• Event parking and traffic control
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong ability and experience in writing policies and procedures

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• 5 years’ experience in security management or law enforcement supervision
• Flexibility to work, weekends, holidays and extended hours as needed.
• Basic computer skills, Microsoft Office
