Nick Cave's The Let Go Opening Night Benefit

Please join us on Wednesday, June 6 at Park Avenue Armory for an Opening Night Benefit celebrating The Let Go, hosted by Suzanne and Bob Cochran, Jack Shainman Gallery, and Joan and Michael Steinberg.

Animating the Armory with the sights, sounds, and movement of renowned interdisciplinary artist Nick Cave, The Let Go will transform the Armory's Wade Thompson Drill Hall into a dance-based town hall that brings together visitors to participate in a collective act of catharsis.

The Let Go

“one of the most popular contemporary artists [who] turns his serious ideas into buoyant aesthetic concepts”
The New York Times

On view from June 7 through July 1, The Let Go will immerse visitors within Cave's newest installation, a monumental, 40-foot-tall, kinetic, multi-colored Mylar sculpture, known as the "chase," that references the sense of freedom and self-expression one gets when they "let go" on the dance floor. The Let Go will also feature a series of soundsuits, wearable sculptures that create a second skin that come to life in an enthralling "Up Right," a performance including a ritual dressing and dance spectacle conceived for the Armory's historic interiors.

The Opening Night Benefit will include an "Up Right" performance with dancers accompanied by a dynamic chorus ensemble. An intimate dinner celebration with the artist and artistic collaborators will follow. After dinner, guests can end the night by joining the dance party to express themselves through movement featuring music curated by New York's leading DJs, dancers leading games of Twister, Soul Train lines, and the "chase" sweeping across the dance floor.
